Facials FAQ

How do I choose the right facial?

Choose based on time, not skin type.

The Quickie (40 min)
Best for maintenance, a reset between longer visits, or when you’re short on time.

The Signature (60 min)
Our most popular facial. Balanced, results-driven, and fully customized.

The Works (90 min)
For deeper work, layered treatments, and extended massage + correction.

Your esthetician will assess your skin at the start of every appointment and adjust accordingly.

Are your facials pregnancy safe?

Yes. Because all of our treatments are fully customizable, we can absolutely create a pregnancy-safe facial for you.

Hormonal changes during pregnancy can significantly impact the skin, making regular facials especially supportive during this time. Your esthetician will thoughtfully adjust products and techniques, avoiding ingredients not recommended during pregnancy.

We’ll also review your at-home routine and guide you toward options that are both pregnancy-safe and effective, so you feel confident in your skincare throughout every stage.

How often should I get a facial?

We recommend a facial every 3–5 weeks.

Your skin naturally turns over approximately every 28–30 days, so consistent monthly treatments allow your esthetician to support that cycle, monitor changes, and adjust your plan as needed.

For corrective work, we may suggest visits closer to every 3–4 weeks. For maintenance, every 4–6 weeks is typically ideal.

Consistency is what creates optimal, sustainable results.

What age should someone start getting facials?

We believe healthy skin habits can start early, and we welcome all ages.

Because our facials are fully customizable, treatments are thoughtfully adapted to each client’s age, skin condition, and stage of life.

For teens who are just beginning their skincare journey, The Quickie (40 min) is a great starting point. It includes gentle cleansing, extractions when appropriate, and — most importantly — education. We focus on building healthy habits, simplifying routines, and supporting changing skin with intention.

Professional facials can be an empowering way for teens to better understand and care for their skin.

For guests under 18, a parent or guardian must provide consent prior to treatment.

Why don't you offer steam in your facials?

We strive to evolve continuously to provide the best experience and results for all clients. Though traditionally used to open pores and facilitate extractions, new research has shown that steam and excess heat can do more harm than good; it can be harsh, dehydrating, and aggravating to the skin (especially for sensitive skin types or inflammatory conditions like rosacea + eczema).

By foregoing steam during facials and instead opting for more gentle but effective methods (like increased facial massage and warm towel compresses), we work to prioritize protecting the skin barrier for truly healthy skin.

Can I add enhancements to my facial?

Yes. We offer a range of add-ons that can be incorporated into your treatment, including:

  • Buccal Massage + Facial Rolling
  • Extended extractions
  • Extended Massage
  • Scalp Massage

Enhancements can be added to any facial at the time of booking or requested during your appointment, based on availability. Your esthetician can also recommend add-ons that would best support your skin goals.

Do you offer memberships?

Yes. Our spa membership is designed for clients who want consistent, long-term results.

Benefits include:

  • Monthly facial credit
  • Member pricing on additional services
  • Exclusive product perks
  • Priority booking

Memberships are ideal if you’re serious about skin health and want structured support. Learn more HERE.

What is your cancellation policy?

To provide the highest quality service and protect appointment availability for all clients, we enforce the following policies:

Deposits: A 50% deposit is required to reserve any appointment. This deposit will be applied to your service on the day of your appointment. Deposits are non-refundable but may be transferred to a future booking if rescheduled. This applies only to appointments that comply with our cancellation policy and are rescheduled more than 24 hours in advance.

Cancellations:

  • Appointments canceled with less than 24 hours’ notice will forfeit the deposit (50% of the service total).
  • No-shows will be charged the remaining balance of the service (100% of the service total).
  • Refunds: Deposits are non-refundable, but are transferable to future appointments.

We kindly ask that all clients cancel or reschedule online or by phone at least 24 hours in advance to avoid forfeiting deposits or incurring additional fees.

Why do I need to pay a deposit to book my appointment?

To reserve your appointment and protect availability for all clients, we require a 50% deposit at the time of booking. This deposit is applied toward your service total on the day of your appointment. Deposits are non-refundable but may be transferred to a future appointment if you reschedule more than 24 hours in advance in accordance with our cancellation policy.

Why was my appointment moved by 10 minutes?

To create the most available space for our guests and members, we maximize our schedules each week, meaning the time you booked may at times be changed. We will always call or text to confirm changes. We thank you for understanding!

How much should I tip my holistic esthetician?

Our Esti-besties are everything. At Shop Good, a 20% gratuity is automatically applied to all spa services at checkout in recognition of their time, skill, and care — and it’s our suggested minimum.

Gratuity is the best way to say thank you for a great service, and you’re always welcome to leave additional gratuity if you wish. By booking your service, you acknowledge and agree to this automatic charge, which will be reflected on your receipt.

Appointment FAQ

When should I arrive for my appointment?

We recommend arriving at least 10 minutes before your facial to allow time to check in, use the restroom, and familiarize yourself with our shop and spa.

Do I need to prep before my appointment?

  • Avoid active exfoliants (retinol, acids) 48 hours prior unless directed otherwise
  • Avoid excessive sun exposure
  • Arrive with minimal makeup if possible

If you’ve had recent injectables, lasers, or medical treatments, please let us know before booking. Shop Good strongly advises against facial services within 14 days of receiving injectables.

What should I wear to my facial?

Wear whatever feels comfortable. You’ll be asked to disrobe to your level of comfort before your treatment.

Our estheticians are fully trained in professional draping techniques to ensure your privacy, comfort, and ease throughout the service.

What if I arrive late for my appointment?

Why is my appointment time longer than the facial duration listed?

The facial duration listed reflects your full treatment time from intake through completion. We intentionally build additional time into each appointment to allow for checkout, personalized product recommendations, rebooking, and a seamless transition between clients. Rest assured, you are receiving the full duration of the service you booked and paid for.
