Who is Wildcare?
Cortney began Wildcare with a dedication to create effective skincare based on the indigenous plant life in her landscape. Through misty red cedar forests of the Pacific Northwest, to desert sage in the Topa Topas in California, Cortney and her husband Alejandro actively seek out and learn about nature constantly. After years of having various skin maladies, she noticed immediate personal benefits from the consistent use of hydrosols. This led her to further research and confirm that both ancient and contemporary researchers agree – hydrosols work.
What are Hydrosols?
A hydrosol is the aromatic water collected from slowly distilled plant material. What results is an extremely gentle skin tonic packed full of nutrients, plant acids, and suspended particles of essential oil used to balance and restore the skin’s natural PH. They are dense with nutrients and highly potent while being equally sensitive to skin (they are totally well-suited for all ages, including babies and pets!). Wildcare uses hand-collected spring water in part with hand-crafted and harvested herbs and plants.
Why are they so dreamy?
We are crushing on these products and falling in love time and again because they are powerful. Oftentimes, nature is used as merely an accent to your skincare + makeup or lightly infused– not the same story with hydrosols. Instead, the 3-5 hour process of distilling the plant ensures the juicy vibrations from Hawaiian sandalwood, lavender, ojai white sage and more.
How does one use hydrosols?
They make for a lovely facial toner, hair/scalp tonic(yum!), added to baths or used with clay masks. Your daily use restores the skin’s natural PH balance and cools your entire core of being. Store your hydrosol in the refrigerator for extra-cooling skin relief. Talk about taking your self-care to the upper echelon!
While we’re plain giddy about the hydrosols, we are equally pleased to offer their rosy clay mask, which highlights ultimate inflammation tamer, bee pollen, and organic rose hips, AND the golden body oil, which comes to the shop perfectly timed with your springtime, shorts-sportin’ plans. This oil has an almost-too-good-to-be-true quality, as it hydrates with sweet almond oil and apricot kernel oil. The illuminating element is thanks to mica, a naturally occurring group of silicate minerals that result in a gorgeous shimmer.
Enviable glow: check, and check.
