Shop Good Approved Guide to San Diego

03_ShopGoodApproved_IGsquare

Let’s face it – it can be *challenging* to find wellness professionals, restaurants, and other service providers you can trust in your community when working towards a healthy lifestyle – you know… without scrolling through Yelp for what seems like hours on end, because ain’t nobody got time for that. We say, fear not babes!

This month is #GIRLTALK over here at Shop Good – and we’ve teamed up with local designer and illustrator @christinedevsdesigns to share our guide to all things g-o-o-d as we spotlight our favorite spots around San Diego… all to support you in leading a healthy + happy life!

Keep reading as Shop Good Product Expert, Alexa Joy, dives into a few of the swoon-worthy spots on our S/G guide —

*Note! There are so many more incredible San Diego spots we *love* to love on! Our guide simply focuses on the key mindfulness-inspired and health-focused haunts we think are supporting the wellness movement here in San Diego, and beyond! Aka, this list is not exhaustive!

BEAUTY –

LeoNails

LEO – Subtly & quietly located on university avenue, LEO provides our community with a holistic & intentional space for wellness and self-care. Whether you’re in need of a (cleaner-than-most!) mani-pedi, massage, or just some good aesthetic to lift your mood, LEO is guaranteed to deliver with an elevated experience and supportive conversation.

GreenAnchor

GREEN & ANCHOR – You know that “salon smell” that we all secretly kinda love? It might be the smell of the ammonia and phenylenediamine roaming about. Bummer! At Green + Anchor, they pride themselves on being “earth friendly and without the use of unnecessary chemicals” while maintaining the results you hope for in good hair — and they totally nailed it.

CLEAN LIVING  –

Veribest

VERIBEST CLEANERS – Sustainable dry cleaning?! Yes, a non-toxic & gentle alternative to your traditional dry-cleaner down the street. Veribest uses a GreenEarth pure liquid silicone, which is non-toxic and non-hazardous making it safe for your clothes, skin, and the planet. Located in the heart of Hillcrest off of Robinson ave.

RaisCase

RAIS CASE  – As local as it gets, Rais Case designs, manufactures, and ships every bag from San Diego. They use circular design practices, such as localized family owned manufacturing,  utilize 100% waste, and hold a close examination of every single part of our supply chain. Ownr, Julie Ellis keeps the well-being of the planet, and you, in the forefront of her mind.  You can visit Rais Case in Oceanside Monday through Thursday & saturday 9:30am-5pm. `

HEALTH  + WELLNESS –

Dahl

DAHL HOLISTIC HEALTH – Reiki healing, biomagnetic therapy, soul and health coaching — this is a one-stop-shop for all things centering & relieving for the mind, body, and soul. Dahl Holistic Health provides a space for each client to work through their health goals with gentle guidance. Honestly, you had us at “centering & relieving” — sign us up! Appointments available in person or over the phone – and at Shop Good this Saturday 9/7 and Sunday 9/8 only! — Book here under ‘SPECIAL EVENTS’.

WildcraftWILDCRAFT MEDICINE – One of our founder’s greatest assets while finding her path to healing was discovering a naturopathic practitioner who could offer her what traditional medicine couldn’t. In true #GIRLTALK fashion, we have to pass this one on! Dr. Emily Poccia & her team specialize in everything from hormone health to athletic performance to sleep disorders. She dives in deep with you and offers nature-based solutions to help your body heal itself. Want to know more? Visit their website to schedule your first appointment and begin the journey to healing!

Cultivate

CULTIVATE – OK, a counseling session that comes with free coffee and an instagram feed that’s uplifting and modern too?! We’re in. Cultivate is a counseling collective dedicated to providing our community a warm and inspiring path back to wholeness. Offering a wide range of services, no matter the season you find yourself in, Cultivate wants to walk through the journey with you. Visit their website today to schedule your first session.

VibeFlowVIBE FLOW – One Paseo has so much to offer and we highly recommend you spend a day with us exploring all of it! Start your day with a solid 50 minutes of yoga at Vibe Flow. Don’t think your average yoga studio —  they offer a unique audio system allowing you to zone everything out & focus on YOU. Even better, you’ll find a whole body vibrational immersion experience waiting for you, a technology that forces your muscles to contract 40% more than they normally would, making you stronger and more balanced. Namaste

HotHaven

HOT HAVEN – Sweat it out with one of San Diego’s premier sauna studios. Open Tuesday through Saturday in Bankers Hill for everything from an infrared sauna to a lymphatic cleanse. The studio rules urge you to unplug and embrace the quiet atmosphere — you don’t have to ask us twice! We’re ready to sweat it out!

FOOD + DRINK –

LittleLion

LITTLE LION – Conveniently located steps away from Sunset Cliffs, one of San Diego’s most known “must-see” spots, Little Lion is the perfect stop for some healthy bites. The morning offers a bright & earthy atmosphere, while dinner hour offers candle-lit tables and a relaxed romantic feeling. In this intimate setting, you honestly can’t go wrong.  Be sure to take a walk and enjoy the water views before or after your meal — it’s kind of a local thing.

HolyMatcha2

HOLY MATCHA – With all its blush pink, gold flatware, and greenery, this one could easily be voted one of San Diego’s most instagramable spots, as well as a healthy alternative to the darker stuff… Our Shop Good gang loves a good matcha latte just as much as the next babe — but Holy Matcha takes matcha to a whole new level with matcha donuts, waffles, dairy free soft-serve, and more! Located in East Village and North Park — definitely a must-try!

TributeTRIBUTE – This one is special to the Shop Good gang. Tribute is one of our favorite North Park neighbors, and you’ll likely run into a group of us there from time to time because, hello:  the BEST vegan pizza we’ve ever had! Tribute crafts a farm-to-table menu full of options for everyone, making this probably the best option for mixed vegan-non-vegan groups and gluten-free-bread-obsessed groups. So grab your gang and eat up!

YouYours

YOU & YOURS – Tucked away in East Village — otherwise known as somewhat of an art district in downtown San Diego — You & Yours is a fool-proof go-to for a good clean cocktail. OK, ok, we know…alcohol isn’t exactly clean. But its all about balance right? And to make the balance play in your favor, might as well indulge in a cocktail that offers superfood ingredients! We’re talkin botanical garnishes, smoked bitters, turmeric, ginger, lemon, and beyond. We’ll cheers to that!

GoodonyaGOODONYA – If you fancy a drive up the 101, you’ll likely find yourself stopping in Encinitas at some point (after your SG One Paseo visit, of course). This is one of our favorite eateries! It’s 99% organic (the 1% non-organic is claimed by a single tortilla they serve that is not organic — laughing out loud over here) and 100% non-GMO. Which basically means you’re being fed 100% real food without having to think about its purity. They even offer a biodynamic organic wine that you have to try. What are you waiting for? We’ll meet you there!
