Need a hit of inspiration during this lull at the end of summer? We are WITH YOU. There’s something about getting solicited expert advice in the time of your commute that is oh-so-satisfying, and that’s why we have a rolodex of podcasts to happily share. Now that it’s time to get back in the swing of things, it’s more apropo than ever to feel a 40-min (or less) jolt to reinvigorate your life, manifest new dreams and get.it.done. Here’s a few of our tops these days:
That’s So Retrograde
Standout Episode: Be The Beginner
This duo of no-filter hippie babes is really fun to listen to when you are craving a listen about crystal healing, natal charts and kale lemonade– but with a practical, #realgirl twist. There are a bevy of really fun episodes, but one that stopped us in our tracks was the interview with “retreat leader and light worker,” Emily Pereira and her case for trying new things and exploring creativity way beyond childhood. This’ll get ya cooking, dancing, surfing or writing poetry guaranteed.
The Rich Roll Podcast
Standout Episode: Arianna Huffington’s Sleep Revolution: A Formula for Enhanced Productivity, Performance Success + Happiness
World-renown athlete and wellness guru Rich Roll is a soothing force in the podcast landscape, with a commanding voice and his podcast is filled with intriguing dialogue between entrepreneurs, chefs and vegan activists. We are particularly fond of the episode with Arianna Huffington, quintessential boss babe and a woman who has been leading the charge for elusive work-life balance + self-care. We applaud her for recognizing the power of sleep and loving yourself first before you take on the world.
Make it Work with Phoebe Lovatt
Standout Episode: Summer School Lesson #2- How to Find Your Brand Voice with Glossier’s Annie Kreighbaum
We definitely have a girl crush on Phoebe Lovatt. For one, she started the WW club, a community of cool, creative and vibrant women who are revolutionizing industries and innovating on a daily basis. Secondly, she is a bonafide British beauty and has an amazing Instagram. But above all, she is business savvy and is generous enough to share with others. Over the summer, she spotlighted 10 women in particular and outlined big lessons they’ve each learned through trial and error in their careers. Naturally, we fell hard for beauty and lifestyle brand Glossier’s Executive Editor, Annie Kreighbaum, and her journey of crafting the voice for a total cult brand of 2016 that is authentic and oozes effortlessness– a hard combo to achieve.
Standout Episode:Ep 1, Childlike Glitter
There’s no denying we are like contoured- moths to a flame when it comes to makeup and beauty— clean products of course (find our most coveted products on Shop Good)! The beauty editor of Marie Claire and Cosmopolitan interview & dish with the stylists and artists in one of the most fun industries out there. We are definitely partial to the first episode, where natural beauty mogul Rose-Marie Swift of RMS Beauty explains how she began her voyage in the makeup world and why she L-O-V-E-S natural beauty (same same!)
Magic Lessons with Elizabeth Gilbert
Standout Episode: “You Have a Screaming, Not a Calling”
The “Eat.Pray.Love.” author, Elizabeth Gilbert, is still out in the soulful space, healing hearts and inspiring with her prose weekly. Her podcast regularly gives us chills, so we pop her in our earbuds often. This podcast’s M.O. surrounds capturing inspiration and relates it to a living spirit that calls on us as much as we crave to find it. We are calling out the opener of season 2, in which Gilbert gives advice to a woman who has created a career as a philanthropist and feminist, but wants to foray into more creative pursuits. It will have you taking a step back and evaluating how you can explore all the dimensions of your passions; you’ve got layers, gal!
